Dry Needling
The goal of dry needling is to target and release trigger points, which are hyperirritable spots within a muscle that can cause pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion.

What is Dry Needling?
Dry Needling involves inserting a fine needle similar to an acupuncture needle into these trigger points. This produces a twitch response in the muscle and you get a deactivation of the trigger point and a relaxation in the overall tone of the muscle. This results in decreased pain and improved muscle function.
Myofascial trigger points are treated with dry needling, sometimes referred to as trigger point needling.
The myofascial trigger point is where the needle is immediately put into the skin and muscle. This may lessen muscle stiffness and provide pain relief.
